Chukwueze crowned Best African Player in La Liga

Samuel Chukwueze, Villarreal’s dynamic winger, has been crowned the best African player of the 2022/2023 Spanish La Liga season. This accolade is a testament to his outstanding performance throughout the season, during which he scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions. The 24-year-old Nigerian has undoubtedly had his most productive season yet since joining the Estadio de la Ceramica team.

Chukwueze faced stiff competition from two other top African players, Inaki Williams from Ghana and Yassine Bounou from Morocco. Williams had scored 10 goals in 36 La Liga matches for Athletic Club and had won the LaLiga Santander Mid-Season African MVP Award. Bounou, on the other hand, was instrumental in helping Sevilla FC win the UEFA Europa League.

Chukwueze’s impressive feat was achieved through the votes of over 30,000 fans and 26 journalists from the continent. Villarreal expressed their admiration for the winger, stating that he deserved the award ahead of other top African players such as Yassine Bono, Iñaki Williams, and Youssef En-Nesyri.

The Nigerian expressed his joy at receiving the award, attributing his success to the unwavering faith Coach Quique Sentien had in him. He also acknowledged the contribution of his teammates, who made his achievement possible.

However, Chukwueze hinted at his desire to attain more accolades, given his age and potential for growth. He expressed gratitude for the award but affirmed that it was only the beginning, and he would continue to work hard and learn.

In conclusion, Chukwueze’s recognition as Africa’s best player in La Liga is a remarkable achievement. It is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and skill, and we look forward to seeing more of his outstanding performances in the future.
